Inspiring Session on Leadership and National Service

On December 8, 2025, the ISTE Chapter of Rohini College organized a guest lecture titled “Leadership and Service: A Professional Overview of the Indian Navy”. The program was conducted for third-year students from ECE, EEE, Mechanical Engineering, MCA, and Diploma EEE streams.

The session focused on leadership values, discipline, professional ethics, and career opportunities within the Indian Navy, offering students a unique perspective on service oriented careers.

Address by the Principal

The program began with a presidential address by Dr. R. Rajesh, Principal of Rohini College of Engineering and Technology. He highlighted the importance of integrity, responsibility, and structured leadership in both engineering and defense careers.

He emphasized that organizations like the Indian Navy represent the highest standards of professionalism and service, qualities that engineering students must adopt to succeed in competitive environments.

Interaction with Indian Navy Officers

The event was enriched by the presence of senior Indian Navy officers. Commander Ravish Chugh introduced the naval team, which included Commander A. Parthiban, along with Mrs. Sangeeta and Mrs. Manjusha.

Their interaction with students provided real world insights into leadership roles, teamwork, and decision-making under responsibility. Students gained firsthand exposure to how technical knowledge and leadership skills are applied in defense services.

Career Opportunities in the Indian Navy

A detailed presentation was delivered by Lieutenant Anand, who explained the structure, training systems, and professional life within the Indian Navy. He outlined multiple entry pathways for engineering students, including:

  • National Defence Academy (NDA)

  • Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE)

  • University Entry Scheme (UES)

  • Short Service Commission (SSC)

The session highlighted how engineering graduates can contribute to national service while building rewarding careers with global exposure and continuous professional development.

Student Engagement and Interactive Discussion

The interactive Q&A session allowed students to ask questions related to eligibility, training routines, work-life balance, career progression, and preparation strategies. The officers addressed each question thoughtfully, motivating students to explore disciplined career paths with confidence.

Such interactions help students understand alternative career opportunities beyond conventional corporate roles.
