JEE Advanced 2026 exam date announced by IIT Roorkee
JEE Advanced is the gateway for admission into India’s IITs.

Eligible candidates who qualify the JEE Main 2026 exam will be able to register for JEE Advanced starting April 23, 2026, through the official website.

According to the official schedule released by IIT Roorkee, the registration process and exam timeline have been clearly defined. Online registration for Indian candidates will begin on April 23, 2026, and will close on May 2, 2026. The last date to pay the application fee is May 4, 2026.

The JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be conducted on May 17, 2026, in computer-based test (CBT) mode. The exam will consist of two papers conducted on the same day:

Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2026

Only candidates who qualify the JEE Main 2026 examination and meet the eligibility criteria set by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) can apply for JEE Advanced. Typically, the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Main are eligible to appear for the exam.

JEE Advanced serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate engineering programs at 23 IITs and other participating institutes across India.

Exam Pattern and Subjects

The JEE Advanced exam tests students’ knowledge in three major subjects:

  • Physics

  • Chemistry

  • Mathematics

The exam consists of two compulsory papers, each lasting three hours. Both papers include multiple question formats designed to evaluate conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills.

The marking scheme and question pattern may vary each year, making the exam particularly challenging for aspirants.

Admission Through JEE Advanced

Candidates’ performance in JEE Advanced 2026 will determine their All India Rank (AIR), which will be used for admission into BTech, integrated master’s, and dual-degree programs offered by IITs through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process.

The results of the exam are expected to be announced in June 2026, after which the counselling process will begin.

Conclusion

The announcement of the JEE Advanced 2026 exam date gives engineering aspirants clarity on the admission timeline for IITs. With the exam scheduled for May 17, 2026, students who qualify JEE Main should begin preparing for the next stage of the highly competitive IIT entrance process.
